Unfortunately, owing to continued uncertainty about Covid-19, St. John’s Church have asked us to potpone our forthcoming concert which was due to take place on 30th January 2022. We have therefore rescheduled this for Sunday 22nd May. Details are on the Next Concert page.

The Southwark Sinfonietta is pleased to announce that its first post-lockdown concert will be at St. Faith’s Church, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ on Sunday, 17th October at 7.00pm. This concert is part of the Herne Hill Music Festival and tickets can be bought now from their website:
The programme consists of the UK premiere of the Classical Overture by New Zealand composer Eric Biddington, Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 (“Haffner”) and Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto with well-known local pianist Nadia Lasserson as soloist.

The Southwark Sinfonietta, an orchestra composed of local musicians, returned to St. John’s for their last concert on Sunday 20th October 2019. Conductor Rupert Bond directed the ensemble in a short symphony by the youngest Bach son (Johann Christian) and Hummel’s showpiece variations for oboe and orchestra – featuring a talented young musician as soloist. The programme concluded with Mozart’s Prague Symphony No. 38.

Our concert as part of the Herne Hill Music Festival was a big success – a capacity audience to hear works by Mozart including his last great symphony #41 the Jupiter.
